909D3 with Whiteboard X?

I have a 909D3 9.5* w/ Titleist Voodoo stiff shaft. For several years I have switched back and forth between stiff and x-stiff....I am ready to go back to x-stiff and I recently picked up a Whiteboard 73X. I have never hit this shaft (no where to try it out, however I have played a Blueboard in several different clubs).
How will this shaft play in this head (generally)?
How stiff does this shaft play (I have read conflicting reports)?
Given that I am not a high ball hitter, would I give up a lot of distance with this club?
Specs:
SS: 115
Launch: 12*
Spin: 3000
I know there has been some discussion on this setup, I thought I would try to get some other thoughts.
Thanks!

You should be OK...I think that WB launches similar to BB but spins less. The shaft definitely plays stiff but IMO if you can handle BB73X you can handle WB73X....at 115 you should be just fine.

I could put a sneaker on the end of my Whiteboard and still rip it. The best driver shaft I have ever had hands down by far. No matter what I try I cant kick it out of the bag. D3 is a great head I've played a few rounds with it with the stock voodoo. Please, post your results after you try. I bet it will be hot.

Good chance ball will drop like a wounded duck. D3 spin is low and WB X spin is extremely low. Add to that you're a natural low ball hitter. 115 SS is good, but maybe not enough for that combo.

I think the BB would be a better fit with a 115SS. Agree with Strat

A agree with the other posters. Your spin isn't "that" high and you launch angle is pretty good so a whiteboard might be overkill. An X-flex in BB might suit you better.

Swing speed has nothing to do with Whiteboard VS Blueboard. They are both rated the same for X stiff (106 and up). It is all about kick point.
Not a high ball hitter ? 3000 RPM and 12* launch sounds pretty good. Do you want it to fall out of the sky or roll out. ? Also....What are those launch numbers based on ? What head shaft combo ?
Lighter shaft will go higher a heavier shaft will keep it down.

The launch #'s are based on the 909D3 with the TItleist Voodoo stiff shaft.

You know it is so hard to tell until you hit it. Even your ball choice can make a difference. For instance a Pro V might give you 200 more RPM's than a Pro vx. I wouldn't be afraid to try it with a 115 swing speed and you will have NO PROBLEM getting rid of it if you hate it. D3 claims it's a mid launch head with low spin but they all say that and until you do it you won't know. My G10 with the same shaft is only a 9* and when I tee up high I can bomb it high. When I tee it low and press a little I can blast it under the wind and let it roll out. Great shaft that combo I'm thinking will rock. Send me a PM if and when you do it. I would be interested to know how you make out.

I would agree with T-Bird. Tee it high or go to ProV1. Titleist Voo-Doo is much higher launch higher spin shaft than Whiteboard. You might want to think about tipping the Voo-Doo an inch before you do anything. If you had a 10.5 D3 I'd say go for it. Good Luck

Awesome shaft, I have the i mix one for the ft5. Great response at impact, perfect ball flight, should be great

He's thinking of going from Voodoo S to Whiteboard X and SS does not matter? It matters, and 12deg is low launch. Hope there are no forced carries off the tee if this combo is selected.

12 is close to ideal at that clubhead speed. I play the 73x and swing about 105-108. As long as spin stays around 2000-2400 you should be fine.

I am gonna be playing this same combo once I get the shaft but in an 8.5 and I was actually thinking about tipping a 73X a little. The D3 really doesn't feel like crazy low spin to me, although I was over 3000 with 13+ launch in a 9.5 with the voodoo. My SS was 116 but I think it may be a little bit higher now.

May be? Little bit? How about definitely is higher now. Nothing like hitting a decently solid 3 wood on the 18th hole and watching another 3 wood carry yours.

Do yourself a favor and get the WB73x. I recently switched from the Mizuno MX500 BB65x to this (909 D3 WB73x) and its been a day and night difference. My ball flight w/ the MX was so high and I lost sooo much distance on holes into the wind (at least 30-40 yds). With a low spin driver like the D3 w/ a WB, my trajectory has dramatically been reduced to a mid ball flight. I honestly couldn't be more thrilled and satisfied. I hope this helps.

But you can`t compare the Wb to a BB in such different heads. MX500-spins a lot.

Thanks for all of the replies. I currently play the B330 so if spin is too low, I can always do as suggested and try a B330-S (or ProV1 or whatever). Good idea that I hadn't thought of.
I guess the other question is launch angle. How much would you suspect the WB would lower the launch given that I am 12 degrees on the Voodoo? 1 degree, 2 degrees, more?

It must be related to hitting on upswing which I don't do enough myself. What loft and head are you using and what sort of traj do you get? I'm amazed when I hear about anybody close to 2000 rpm, and the whiteboard 73x with that low a SS is uncommon.

That combo could be interesting. I play a 909 D3 8.5 w/ BB 83x and that combo is pretty low launch low spin, and I am an extremely high ball hitter. I do agree with the post above about the ball. I would look into the pro V1 or maybe Nike One Tour, or Srixon Z-star. Something with alittle more spin and slightly higher launch.

I launch 13-16 with 1700-2100 rpms of spin with the 9015 which is a lower spin head.

I'm using a 9.5 D3 w/ a WB 73x ion tipped .5".. and I hit the 9.5 lower than the 8.5 09 TM Burner TP. I think if you're launching 12 degrees w/ the stock voodoo, you'll launch lower w/ the WB. You'll probably also pick up some accuracy and a lot of roll out.
My D3/WB combo is surprisingly long. It's actually longer than any driver i've hit yet (yes longer than the 9015 and yes longer than the 09 BTP and Cobra S9-1 Pro D/S). The main thing is how workable this driver is w/ minor alignment changes to work the ball either way vs. the 09 BTP and 9015 I have to exagerate my draw setup just to get the ball to move at all left. Murder.

I play 909D3 9.5 with WB 73x.And my swing speed is about 105-110 An absolute great combo. Although your launch may be a little low for this shaft.

I was responding to the post after that when a Blueboard x was recomended instead of a whiteboard x. The both share the same rating for swing speed. The guy swings at 115 MPH how fast do think you need to swing to play X stiff. Some Tour Pros don't reach 115 mph. Your saying things like it's gonna drop out of the sky and hope there is no long carries. Every shaft maker is a little different. The DIAMANA WHITEBOARD (and Blueboard) STIFF is only rated to 105MPH. He would be overloading that shaft and have horrible shot disparity. Being that I actually play the shaft in question and have similar swing speed and launch I do have a clue. As for yourself I am not so sure. BTW @ 115 MPH 12 launch is NOT too low.
Put the shaft in and try it with different balls. If you don't get the desired effect I'll buy it off ya

I 100% agree you dont need a ridiculous SS to load WB73X. I dont think he would be overloading a stiff but you never know. I think a lot of people think you need super human SS to play WB because Tiger does.

True, it's in the tipping Tiger has it tipped 1.5-2" , Vijay had his tipped 2.5" last year. You can make it act like a 24 if ya want, but untipped it very manageable.

I picked the club up and went directly to the range (what other option did I have?). I am impressed.I had several first impressions. A well struck shot resulted in a equivalent distances with a nice ball-flight. It didn't fall out of the sky at all, in fact, it looked like I was finally getting spin in the "optimal" range. The club also seemed to eliminate the draw-fade-draw-fade that I was getting with the stock shaft, I am excited about that.
Being honest, it is never all roses and puppies.....I definitely noticed that mishit shots paid a big penalty....low and right.
Thanks again for all the suggestions. I look forward to getting out and playing a few rounds with this.
